Lateral Support is a method of ground reinforcement and improvement that uses a range of soil nails or rock anchors to achieve stability. In many cases there is insufficient space alongside road cuttings or deep excavations to allow for a mass gravity retaining wall or reinforced soil wall.
Gabions or MacMat® R are used in conjunction with soil nails or rock anchors to prevent surface erosion of the slope by environmental effects.
There are two types of Lateral Support -
- Gabions with Lateral Support
- MacMat® R with Lateral Support
